Name: Freya Sacksen.
Species: Plant/Piano Monkey/Demon/Goddess/Superhero/Group of Raging Hormones Whose Weirdness and Hatred for Reality Knows No Bounds.
Hair Color: Blonde.
Eye Color: Green.
Skin Color: Black.
Heritage: Jewish.
Natural Habitat: Wellington, New Zealand.
Hatred For: Dylan Thomas (although Bob Dylan is awesome) Romeo & Juliet, my hair, Voldo & Ivy from Soul Calibur 2, the double standard and those annoying little biscuits with the cashew nuts that taste so good and yet totally screw over my braces. Oh, and math. How I loathe it.
Please Make Note: At least some of this is a lie.
I am the official campaigner and pioneer of the Punctuation Awareness Program!
So, remember kids: Every time you fuck up punctuation, God electrocutes Orlando Bloom with a cattleprod.
Freya Sacksen: Lying since 1942. Almost sixty-five years of constant fallacies.
You know what sucks about journals? You can never tell whether to have all these deep and meaningful quotes up so that you sound somewhat pretentious but also kind of Matrix-cool, or whether to have bizarre jokey madness which totally destroys any moments of sadness you might have. Kind of hard to announce the death of a loved one when you've got a Simpsons quote up top. So, I'll settle for a nice contrast, having the madness here, followed by the pretentiousness at the bottom, where people don't have to see.
'And when the Fool and Blind Man stole the bread
Cuchulain fought the ungovernable sea;
Heart-mysteries there, and yet when all is said
It was the dream itself enchanted me:
Character isolated by a deed
To engross the present and dominate memory,
Players and painted stage took all my love,
And not those things which they were emblems of.'
-The Circus Animals' Desertion by W. B. Yeats, stanza four.
